Lady Jags pile on runs in win over Lafayette
Not a lot went right for the Lafayette Lady Commodores softball team on the scoreboard Thursday against DeSoto Central.
In the 15-4 loss, the Lady Commodores were unable to keep the Lady Jaguars off the basepaths and in turn were also unable to get a consistent supply of hits, resulting in the lopsided loss.
According to Lafayette coach Cay Papagolos, the game was more about pushing her team in the non-district showdown than it was anything else.
Papagolos said she scheduled the game against DeSoto Central in an effort to challenge her team and get the most out of her players. (April 16, 2010, Page 8a)

Oxford’s Blake does it all as Player of the Year
Describing what Brandon Blake meant to the Oxford Chargers on the hardwood this season can’t be accomplished in just a word or small phrase. His value to coach Drew Tyler and his teammates was all encompassing. His role always seemed to change from game to game. From being the team’s leading scorer to the team’s leading rebounder to leading the Chargers in assists, he simply did it all when called upon. (April 14, 2010, Page 1B)

Isom’s all-around game leads to Player of Year honor
There was a game early on in the season where the light turned on for Lafayette’s Shaquilla Isom and things got a whole lot easier on the court. It’s not that Isom hadn’t shown flashes of her all-around ability as a sophomore, but there was a marked difference in the way she handled herself on the court compared to any point during the 2008-09 campaign.
