LHS softball doubleheader postponed

SPORTS EDITOR BLOG — Saturday’s Class 4A playoff doubleheader between the Lafayette Lady Commodores and the Kosciusko Lady Whippets has been postponed until Monday due to the heavy rain and threat of tornados that have hit the North Mississippi area. (more…) (May 1, 2010)

      Goolsby taking his bat to NWCC

      An incredible ability to swing a bat coupled with improvement in the outfield has led to a new home for Lafayette’s Denzel Goolsby. Goolsby signed a scholarship offer from Northwest Mississippi Community College Thursday to play outfield and potentially hit in the middle of the lineup for the Rangers the next two years. (April 30, 2010, Page 7A)

        Patton leads ‘Dores to win over CHS

          Lafayette falls in round 2 of tennis playoffs

          Lafayette’s tennis season came to an unfortunate end Thursday as the Commodores lost 5-2 to New Albany in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs. LHS ends the year at 10-4. (April 30, 2010, Page 8A)

            Chargers’ Roberson talks baseball playoffs

            AROUND THE SQUARE AND BEYOND — Bradley Roberson may not be coaching high school baseball any longer, but he still has a pulse on what’s going on in the sport and the upcoming playoffs that start on Friday.

            The Chargers played a good portion of the teams left in the playoffs, including Independence, which faces Water Valley in the first round, and Lafayette, which plays against former Region 2-4A foe Cleveland in the first round. (April 28, 2010, Page 6)

                    LHS netters make quick work of Greenwood

                    Lafayette’s first-round matchup with Greenwood in the Class 4A tennis playoffs went as expected as the Commodores defeated the Bulldogs 6-1 Thursday at the courts behind Oxford-University Stadium. The win improved the Commodores to 10-3 overall and to advance them into a second round matchup with New Albany next week. (April 23, 2010, Page 8A)
