    Grenada tops Lafayette tennis

    The Commodores lost a tight match, 5-2, to Grenada at home on Thursday. All the doubles matches were close for the Commodores, who fell to 8-4 overall. Two of the matches involved a tiebreaker, while another was a 7-5, 7-5 setback. (more…) (April 15, 2011, Page 8A)

        LHS softball routs Lewisburg

        The Lafayette softball team scored three runs in the third and seventh inning to rout Lewisburg on the road 12-0. Lafayette collected 14 hits as a team while forcing the Lady Patriots to make six errors. (more…) (April 13, 2011, Page 10)

          Lewisburg tops Lafayette in baseball

            Playoffs begin for middle school baseball teams

              Commodores awarded title rings

              An offseason that has been filled with preparations for the future was briefly interrupted on Friday for the Lafayette High football team.

              The team that won the school’s first state football title got together one more time as a group to celebrate the lofty accomplishments of 2010 with a ring ceremony in the LHS gym. (more…) (April 11, 2011, Page 4B)

                Lafayette baseball rolls Center Hill

                Lafayette’s potent lineup led the Commodores to two one-sided wins over Center Hill and New Albany over the weekend. The Commodores defeated Center Hill 13-2 on Friday night to remain perfect (6-0) in Region 2-4A play, while the ‘Dores smacked around the Bulldogs for the second time this year in a 14-9 win at New Albany.                     ‘Dores sweep Marshall Academy in baseball

                    Lafayette middle school earned a baseball sweep over Marshall Academy on Thursday. The Commodores won 3-1 and 7-1 to remain in second place in the Tri Lakes Conference standings. Eli Murphree pitched the first game of the doubleheader and finished with six strikeouts against just two hits allowed. Austin Arrington had two hits and two RBIs in the win, Eli Murphree had a hit and an RBI, John Murphree had a hit, while Ryan Holland drove in a run. (more…) (April 8, 2011, Page 8A)
