Experienced Lady ‘Dores ready to begin season
A roster filled with experience and numbers are just two of the many positives for the Lafayette girls powerlifting team heading into Saturday’s first meet of the season Saturday at Pontotoc.

Oxford earns road wins over LHS
Tuesday’s nightcap involving the Oxford Chargers and Lafayette Commodores literally came down to one play. In a game that was as emotionally charged as any recent contest between Lafayette and Oxford on the basketball court, it was the Chargers who got the better of the Commodores in a 55-53 win in the LHS gym. Medical emergency postpones LHS game
Friday night’s varsity basketball doubleheader between Lafayette and Senatobia in the LHS gym turned into a life or death situation for one Commodore.
Senior forward Sherquan Herod collapsed on the floor during the second quarter of the boys’ contest due to a medical emergency that revolved around his heart stopping. Herod, who was making his second start of the season, was sitting on the bench when he suddenly landed face-first onto the floor after suffering from the cardiac-related episode. Lafayette splits with CHS in divisional showdown
Lafayette wrapped up its home-and-home series on the pitch with Cleveland on Saturday, splitting with the visitors.
While the LHS girls cruised to a 6-0 victory on a gusty Saturday afternoon at William L. Buford Stadium, the Commodores were defeated 6-2.
In the girls’ showdown, Lafayette scored five goals in the first half and never let Cleveland gain any sort of confidence to get back in the game. (January 16, 2012, Page 8)
