After difficult losses a week ago, the Water Valley Blue Devils and Oxford Chargers will be looking to bounce back tonight with home games against South Pontotoc and Hernando respectively.
The Lafayette Commodores, meanwhile, will jump out of region play and travel north to face a difficult Millington Central (Tenn.) Trojans squad.
All kickoffs are set for 7 p.m. Oxford’s game can be heard on 95.5 FM, while Water Valley’s game will be broadcast on 105.5 FM and Lafayette’s on 93.7 FM. (October 15, 2010, Page 6A)
Lafayette’s opponent, the Millington Central Trojans, will do just that when the Commodores head north on I-55 on Friday.

Not only did Billups complete 17 of 36 passes for two scores and 291 yards, but he also caught a 9-yard touchdown pass on a trick play that put the Chargers ahead 7-0.
On the Chargers’ final scoring drive of the game that allowed the team a chance to tie the Green Wave, Billups also scrambled for a first down on a 12-yard run.

The 2nd annual Lafayette Baseball Golf Tournament will be held Saturday at the Ole Miss Golf Course. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and run through the start time at 8 a.m. Cost is $60 per person to enter the four-man scramble.

The No. 1 ranked Lafayette Commodores dominated Senatobia in every aspect of the game Friday night, beating the Warriors 54-7 at William L Buford Stadium. Tonight’s area football teams will play important game for determining seeds for the upcoming playoffs. No. 1 Lafayette has an opportunity to further secure a second straight Region 2-4A title with a win over Senatobia at William L. Buford Stadium. Oxford has a great opportunity of finishing first in Region 1-5A if it can defeat West Point on the road, while the Water Valley Blue Devils can remain in first place in Region 2-3A with an upset of Aberdeen on the road.

The Lafayette Lady Commodores had a lot on their mind during Thursday’s match at Lewisburg. Having fallen to the Lady Patriots twice during the regular season, and with a second-straight trip to Jackson for the state tournament on the line, the Lady ‘Dores played an emotional first game.
Eventually, however, the momentum swung in Lewisburg’s favor and the Lady Commodores were never able to recover, dropping the match 3-1 (15-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-16). (October 8, 2010, Page 7A)
While the gridiron Commodores remain a heavy favorite Friday when they host Senatobia at 7 p.m., coach Anthony Hart has been preparing his team this week for a battle at William L. Buford Stadium.
