Senatobia rallies to top Lady ‘Dores

SENATOBIA — Lafayette had all the momentum.
The Lady Commodores cruised to a 10-point victory in the third set of the MHSAA Class I North Half volleyball championship to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five match against Senatobia, needing to capture just one more game to advance to Saturday’s state title match. (October 30, 2013, Page 8)

    ‘Dores top Warriors, clinch playoff berth

    SENATOBIA — Through two and half quarters against Senatobia, Lafayette couldn’t stay out of its way, committing 11 penalties. In the final quarter and half, the Commodores only had one.

      Lafayette teams place 2nd in 1-4A championship meet

      Lafayette’s trio of Peyton Hamann, Rachel Starnes and Esmeralda Rodriguez helped lift the Lady Commodores to a second-place finish in the Division 1-4A Cross-Country Championships Saturday in Corinth. Lafayette finished behind Corinth with 37 points. Corinth won with 34 points. Itawamba and Amory finished third and fourth respectively. (October 28, 2013, Page 3B)

        Lady ‘Dores cruise to North Half final

        HOLLY SPRINGS — Lafayette is one of the last four volleyball teams standing.
        The Lady Commodores eased their way into the North Half final with a 3-0 sweep (25-13, 25-19, 25-13) of H.W. Byers in the second round of the MHSAA Class I state playoffs Saturday afternoon in Holly Springs. (October 28, 2013, Page 4B)

            OHS aims for region title; LHS, WVHS look to stay on a roll

            There is plenty to play for for the area’s three high school football teams this week.
            Oxford, the state’s fifth-ranked overall team, will host Clarksdale for the outright Region 1-5A title Friday night while Class 3A No. 5 Water Valley needs a victory over Independence to keep pace atop the Region 2-3A standings. Lafayette has to win its final two games beginning with Senatobia to get one of Region 2-4A’s three playoff berths. (October 25, 2013, Page 6A)
