    Thursday’s obituaries

    • Julius Adams Johnson — 88, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at the State Veterans Home in Oxford. A memorial service, following cremation, is planned for Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in El Dorado, Ark. His ashes will be interred in the columbarium at the church. A reception will follow in the Cloister. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford was in charge of local arrangements.

      Wednesday’s obituaries

      • Rose M. Davis — 76, of West Helena died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
      • Bonnie Ruth Russell DePriest — 75, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at Webster General Hospital in Eupora. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow be in the Abbeville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
      • Morris Ray Shirley — 69, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. Services will be held at 2 this afternoon in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Forrest Cemetery in Pontotoc. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

        • Bonnie R. DePriest — 75, died Monday at Webster General Hospital in Eupora. Arrangements are incomplete with Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford.
        • Darby Thompson Shelton — 52, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at her home in Water Valley. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Burial will follow at Tabernacle Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 this evening at the funeral home.

          • Billie Clarine Easley — 70, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at her residence near Oxford. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at College Hill Heights Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
          • Jonnie Maeford Sharp Gregory — 87, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at her residence in Paris. Services will be at 2 this afternoon at the New El Bethel Baptist Church in Paris. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce is in charge of arrangements.
          • Lourette Griffin Harrington — 87, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Services were held this morning at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Woodland. Burial followed in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Houston Funeral Home of Houston was in charge of arrangements.
          • Guy B. Perkins — 75, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at his home in Water Valley. Services were held this morning in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Burial followed at the Black Jack Cemetery in Panola County.
          • Charles Gregory Thomas — 41, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at his home in Fairhope, Ala. A Celebration of Life was held Sunday at All Saints Episcopal Church in Grenada, followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. An additional memorial service was held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne, Ala., this morning. Garner-Harper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

            • Guy B. Perkins — 75, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at his home in Water Valley. Services will be held Monday in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, with Bro. Virgil Nelson and Bro. Roger Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at the Black Jack Cemetery in Panola County. Visitation will be held from 4 until 6 this evening at the funeral home.
            • Charles Gregory Thomas — 41, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at his home in Fairhope, Ala. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 this afternoon at All Saints Episcopal Church in Grenada, followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.  Visitation will precede the service from 1:30 to 3 at the church. An additional memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne, Ala., on Monday at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 before the service. Garner-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 this evening and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, all at the funeral home.
              • Howard Andrews — 51, of Batesville died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church in Batesville. Burial will follow in Eureka Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Cooley’s Mortuary and one hour prior to Sunday’s service at the church.
              • Howard Gene Halverson — 72, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Local funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Final funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at East Clermont Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:30 until 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in East Clermont Lutheran Church Cemetery.
              • William Lewis Miles — 81, of Water Valley, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at the Yalobusha County Nursing Home. Visitation will be from noon until 2 this afternoon at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, with a graveside service at Jumper’s Chapel in Yalobusha County immediately following the visitation.

                    • George Scott Gilchrist — 62, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at his son’s home in Water Valley. The family will hold a memorial service at a later time. Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
                    • Maefred King House — 91, of Oxford, formerly of Senatobia, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethesda Cemetery in Senatobia. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia.
