Wednesday’s obituaries

  • Ida Fay “Dean” Campbell — 88, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at her residence in Oxford. Services will be held at noon Saturday at the Tallahatchie-Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building in Oxford. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the Tallahatchie-Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building. Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
  • Lawrence Doyle — an infant, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services were held this morning in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Babyland in the Garden of Memories at the funeral home.
  • Thelma Few Learned — 91, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at the DeSoto Healthcare Nursing Home in Southaven. Services were held this morning in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.
  • Lewis Rowsey — 82, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at his daughter’s residence in Tupelo. Services will be held at Noon Thursday at Pleasant Green MB Church in Water Valley. Burial will follow in Pleasant Green Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 this evening at the church. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
  • Samantha Stokes — 35, died Tuesday at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Arrangements are incomplete with Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc.

    Tuesday’s obituaries

    • Lincoln Clarence Rogers — 61, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at his home in Holly Springs. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Holly Springs. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 this evening and for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

      • Ruthie Ivy — 75, died Saturday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete with Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home of Oxford.
      • James D. Minor — 64, died this morning at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete with Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home in Oxford.
      • Louis Rowsey — 82, of Taylor died this morning at his daughter’s home in Tupelo. Arrangements are incomplete with Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc.

            • Kevser Ermin — 27, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, in Oxford. A remembrance service for Kevser will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Paris-Yates Chapel at the University of Mississippi. A reception for all friends and family will follow in the chapel’s courtyard after the service. Waller Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of local services.
            • Lula Mae Gardner Howard Goode —97, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home of Oxford. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
            • James Douglas “Doug” Green Jr. — 58, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.               • Virginia “Virgie” Russell Fulcher Taylor — 92, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services were held this morning at Como United Methodist Church in Como. Following the service, a visitation will be held at the Strickling-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City, beginning at 3 this afternoon, with a graveside service to follow at 4 in Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City. Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Batesville was in charge of arrangements.

                • Edgar Sandefer — 86, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Waller Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford, with the Rev. Kerby Ladner officiating. Burial will follow in Paris Cemetery in Paris. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
                • James A. Woods Jr. — 79, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis. Services were held Tuesday at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, with Elder Jeremy Gray officiating. Burial followed in the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis. J.O. Patterson Mortuary in Memphis was in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be held  until 2 this afternoon at the Serenity-Martin Funeral Home in Holly Springs and from 3 to 6:30 this evening at Serenity-Martin Funeral Home in Oxford.
                  • William Loy Brown — 92, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at North Oxford Baptist Church. Burial will follow in North Oxford Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday.

                    • Verdie Singleton Woodard — 88, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Harmontown Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Harmontown Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held for four hours prior to the service at the church. Ray-Nowell Funeral Homes in Sardis is in charge of arrangements.
