  • Currie F. Brooks — 73, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sylva Rena Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Sylva Rena Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 this evening at Seven Oaks Funeral Home of Water Valley.
  • Sammie Lee Rogers — 95, died Saturday, April 23, 2011, in the Tippah County Hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Oak Grove M.B. Church in New Albany. Burial will follow in the Academy Cemetery in Blue Mountain. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday in the chapel at Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany, and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
  • Sharon Denise “Deenee” Hill Wortham — 39, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at her home in Memphis. Services were held this morning at the West Antioch Church in Senatobi. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home of Hernando was in charge of arrangements.

    • Col. William Richard “Dick” Trott —  retired, Ph.D., 79, died Monday, April 25, 2011. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Waller Funeral Home, and Thursday, one hour prior to the service at the church.

      • Michael W. Creel — 62, of Pope, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services were held Saturday at Tocowa Baptist Church in Courtland. Cooley’s Mortuary Inc. of Batesville was in charge of arrangements.
      • A’Miyah La’Shae Gipson — six-month-old daughter of Ja’Terrika Gipson of Oxford and Darrius Moore of Como, died Friday, April 22, 2011, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at East Providence MB Church. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
      • Miriam Agatha Grissom — 86, died Friday, April 22, 2011, at her home in Snow Lake. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Coleman Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
      • Robert Baird “R. B.” Moor — died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at his home. Services were held Saturday at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
      • Melvin T. Perry — 79, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at his home in Flint. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Southeast Christian Church, and burial will follow in the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Mich. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home.
      • Johnny B. “J.B.” Smith Jr. — 86, of Nashville, died Friday, April 22, 2011. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home of Nashville. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 this evening at the funeral home.
      • Col. William R. Trott —  79, died at his home in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete with Waller Funeral home of Oxford.

        • Joe Cappleman — 54, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Waller Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
        • S. Jay McDuffie — 88, died at the Griffis Greenhouse at United Methodist Senior Services. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Nettleton Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the McDuffie family plot at Nettleton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 this evening at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors, and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
        • Inez Bonds Parks — 100, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, in Columbus. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Philadelphia Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery.           • Tiger E. Crawley — 87, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at the State Veterans Home in Oxford. Services with military honors were held this morning at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church-Batesville. Burial followed at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home of Batesville was in charge of arrangements.
          • Hayes Lynch Jr. — 77, died Saturday at Community Hospice in Verona. Services will be held at noon Saturday at Springfield MB Church in Abbeville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at J.F. Brittenum & Son Funeral Home in Holly Springs and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
          • Inez Parks — 100, died Thursday at The Windsor Place in Columbus. Arrangements are incomplete with Waller Funeral Home.
          • Bryan Dennis Rikard — 42, died Monday, April 18, 2011, in Oxford. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the College Hill Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

                • Bobby Gene “Calhoun” Walker — 57, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services were held Saturday at Usher Valley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Domini Henry officiating. Burial followed in Pontotoc City Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc was in charge of arrangements.
                • Christopher Caleb Wesley — 20, died Thursday, April 14, 2011, in Oxford. Services were held Sunday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home of Oxford, with Bro. Ryan Baker officiating. Burial followed in the Eastover Memorial Cemetery.

                  • WATER VALLEY – Mary Joyce Schmitz Bardo, 50, died Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 until 3 p.m. at Elam Cemetery in Coffeeville. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 3, with Bro. Ken Izzard officiating. 
                    She was employed with Valley Tool in Water Valley. She loved her family and her grandchildren. She enjoyed riding her 4-wheeler and she was always laughing. She attended Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Water Valley.
                    Survivors include two daughters, Andrea Johnson of  Pine Flat in Lafayette County and Regina Soileau of Coffeeville; one son, Tyler Neighbors of Pine Flat in Lafayette County; four brothers, Terry Criss Schmitz, James Henry “Porky” Schmitz, Tommy Schmitz and Randy Schmitz, all of Water Valley; and nine grandchildren.

Burial will follow in the Oakridge Cemetery in Water Valley. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the church.                     • Christopher Caleb Wesley — 20, a college student, died Thursday, April 14, 2011, in Oxford. Funeral Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home, with Bro. Ryan Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Eastover Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until 2 at the funeral home. Born in Greenwood, he was a 2008 graduate of Dickson High School in Dickson, Tenn., and attended Northwest Mississippi Community College. He enjoyed working with children at The Scott Center in Oxford, music and singing. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Helen L. Wesley, and his grandfathers, James H. Wiltshire and Darrel Wayne Gray. Survivors include his mother, Rolonda Wesley Gray of Oxford; his father, Shealyn N. Richmond of Holly Springs; his step-father, David W. Gray of Oxford; his brother, David Bojack Gray of Oxford; his sister, Cara Loree Gray of Oxford; and his grandparents, Ronald Wesley of Carolton, Rubye Britt Carlisle of Greenwood and Sally J.                     • Bobby Gene “Calhoun” Walker, 57, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, with family present from 5 to 6, all at the Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc. Services will be held at noon Saturday at Usher Valley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Domini Henry officiating. Burial will be in Pontotoc City Cemetery. A native of Pontotoc, he was a member of Usher Valley United Methodist Church. He loved people and making them laugh, loved gangster movies, loved broadcasting baseball games and other events and love the Pistons and the Lakers. Survivors include his wife, Eloise Walker of Houlka; one daughter, Seqouia Williams of Pontotoc; three sons, Brandon Walker, Kasar Latham and Isiah Walker, all of Grand Rapids, Mich.; his mother, Georgia B. Ware of Pontotoc; three sisters, Patsy Wilson and Alice Montgomery, both of Pontotoc, and Sarah Currie of Houston, Texas; eight brother, Jake Walker of Grand Rapids, James Wilson of Oxford, Joe Ware, Melvin Ware, Robert White and Johnny Ware, all of Pontotoc, Willie Ware of Plantersville and Gearld Ware of Memphis; four grandchildren; and a very special aunt, Lue Ethel Foster of Pontotoc.
