  • Mae Etta Fondren Martin, 99, died Dec. 23, 2011 at Ridgewood Care Center in Racine, Wis. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon at North Hopewell M.B. Church in Taylor with burial following at Yocona Cemetery in Taylor. Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    • MARVEL MARIE JONES MYERS – 92, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at Lee Memorial Health Systems in Fort Myers, Fla. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Waller Funeral Home with Richard Williams officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at Waller Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Tallahatchie Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building in Oxford. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 this evening in the chapel at the Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home in Oxford.
      • Mannora Boone Mosby — 94, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at her daughter’s residence in 29 Palms, Calif. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Tallahatchie Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building in Oxford. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 this evening in the chapel at the Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home in Oxford.
      • John M. Newell — 79, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at his residence in Brookhaven. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Brookhaven. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 this evening at the Brookhaven Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

        • Wallace Keith Oakes — 39, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at The Med in Memphis. Services will be held at 2 this afternoon in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Cemetery in Abbeville. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
        • Francis M. “Frank” Rhodes — 77, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at the V.A. Medical Center. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Millington Chapel of the Munford Funeral Home in Millington. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
        • Samuel Wayne Waller Jr. — 67, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at his home in Oxford. Services were held this morning at Clear Creek Baptist Church. Burial followed in Clear Creek Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

                  • Frank Taylor — 89, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville. Services were held Sunday afternoon at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville.. Burial followed in Forrest Memorial Park.

                    • Shirley DePriest Baldwin, 66, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, with Bro. Randy Hope officiating. Burial will follow in Abbeville Cemetery. Visitation will be held for an hour and a half prior to the service at the funeral home. Retired from Furniture World in Oxford, she was the former town clerk of Abbeville and was a member of First Baptist Church of Abbeville. Also, she was a member of the Darrell DePriest Lafayette County DAV. Survivors include her mother, Arlie Mae Irwin DePriest of Abbeville; three daughters, Evelyn Windham and Teresa Baldwin, both of Southaven, and Karen Walters of Abbeville; one sister, Linda Kisner of Abbeville; two brothers, Danny DePriest and Keith DePriest, both of Abbeville; and four grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation Inc., 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
