  • Samuel Lomax “Sam” Hollowell — 73, died Friday, July 9, 2010. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Waller Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Browning Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
  • Louis Oscar Vause — 84, died Thursday, July 8, 2010. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Charleston Cemetery. A visitation with the family will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Oxford-University United Methodist Church and a service will follow at 2:30 at the church. Newsom Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.

    • Sandra “San” D. Jenkins-Sharma — 70, died Monday, July 5, 2010, at her residence in Oxford. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Burns U.M. Church, with the Rev. Deborah Mingo Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peters Cemetery. Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

      Wednesday’s Obituaries

      EUNICE WAYNE BRASHER COLLIER – 91, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at the Yalobusha County Nursing Home in Water Valley. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at O’Tuckolofa Baptist Church in Water Valley with Bro. Dan Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Liberty Cemetery in Calhoun County. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the church. Seven Oaks Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

      JAMES ‘SOLE’ ROBERSON JR. – 63, died Monday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Thursday at Buford Chapel UM Church with burial to follow in the church’s cemetery. Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

      MELBA CHILCOAT YANCY – 90, died Monday, July 5, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Sarepta Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Spratlin and Rev. Jon Vanlandingham officiating. Burial will follow in the Sarepta Cemetery. Visitation will be today from noon to 2:30 at Parker Funeral Home in Bruce, which is in charge of arrangements. (July 7, 2010, Page 2)

        DALE K. TUTOR – 92, a homemaker, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Tri Lakes Medical Center in Batesville. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Waller Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Robert Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery.           ALAN BYRON LOCKE – 79, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at his home near Oxford. Services were held Saturday in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel, with Bob Brewer and Eric Dahl officiating. Burial followed in the Clear Creek Cemetery.

          D. ALLEN MOTT – 61, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at his home in Oxford. Graveside services were held today at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Greenville, with the Rev. Claire Dobbs officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Boone-Wells Funeral Home in Greenville.

          JOHN W. NARON JR. – 82, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Graceland Care Center in Oxford. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clear Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Lipe officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 this evening at Waller Funeral Home.

          JAMES “SOLE” ROBERTSON – 63, died at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi on Monday, July 5, 2010. Arrangements are incomplete with Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home of Oxford.

          AMY DELL HOLLOWELL SPENCER – 97, retired employee of the B & I Complex in Oxford and the Oxford High School Cafeteria, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at her son’s home in Oxford. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Anchor Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Shook officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today at Waller Funeral Home and again, prior to the service, from 9:30 until 10:30 at Anchor Baptist Church. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

          DALE K. TUTOR – 92, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Tri Lakes Medical Center in Batesville. Arrangements are incomplete with Waller Funeral Home.

          DEBORAH JO WHITE – 58, of Cullman, Ala. and originally from north Mississippi, died on June 24, 2010. A celebration of her life was held on June 27, 2010, at Spirit Life Church of God, where she served as secretary for eight years.             • Amy Dell Spencer — 97, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at her son’s home in Oxford. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Anchor Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pine Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Waller Funeral Home and again, one hour prior to the service at the church.

                • Dr. Charles Denton O’Dell — 73, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lavonia Presbyterian Church in Lavonia. A reception will follow at the Lavonia United Methodist Church fellowship hall across the street. A celebration of his life is planned for 2 p.m. July 10 at Camp Hopewell near Oxford, with a reception to follow. A memorial service is also planned for 4 p.m. July 14 at the Estatoah Wayfarers Chapel in Dillard, Ga. Strickland Funeral Home, Lavonia Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
                • Dorothy Louise Russell — 74, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
                • Samuel Eugene “Sam” Turner — Sr., 64, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken White officiating. Burial will follow in Kingdom Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
