  • William Pluett Denley— died Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun City, with Brother Wayne Gullett officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
  • Eloise McDaniel — 81, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services were held Monday in the Henry Chapel of the Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, with Bro. David Floyd officiating.  Burial followed in the Browning Cemetery in Lafayette County.
  • Glynn Tatum — died Tuesday at her home in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete with Waller Funeral Home in Oxford.

    • Malik J. Dye — the infant son of Micrishia Vaughn and Martavious Dye, died Sunday, March 1, 2015, at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis. Service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Hodges Funeral Homes Chapel in Oxford. Burial will follow in Philadelphia M.B. Church Cemetery in Oxford.
    • Tim Ford — 63, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at his home in Oxford. Services will be held at 3 this afternoon at Paris-Yates Chapel on the campus of the University of Mississippi.
    • Sheila Gregory Nelson — 51, died Sunday, March 1, 2015, at her home in Water Valley. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery in Yalobusha County. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

      • Larry Kelly — 58, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at West Park Baptist Church in Knoxville. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Carter Branch Cemetery in Tishomingo. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.         • Evelyn Epps — 95, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at Sardis Nursing Home in Sardis. Services were held Saturday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville, with Dr. Tommy Snyder and the Rev. Charles Lipe officiating. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville.
        • James “Jim” Martin Smith — 55, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at his home in Thaxton. Services were held Saturday at Philadelphia Baptist Church cemetery with Rick Mize officiating. Waller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
        • Robert Charles “Bob” Thierry — 94, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, in Oxford. Visitation will be held Monday from 3 until 5 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Suisun Fairfield Rockville Cemetery in Fairfield, California.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pontotoc Second Baptist Church in Pontotoc. Burial will follow in the Pontotoc City Cemetery.               Wednesday’s obituaries

              • Velda Brown Carter — 85, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at her home in Batesville. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville, with Michael Bates and Robert Rawson officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville.

              Born in Harmontown, she was the former bookkeeper for Custom Sign Company in Batesville, and she was also a member of the Batesville Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Durrell “Molly” Carter.

              Survivors include her nieces, Sandra Snelling of Batesville, Billie Capwell of Pope, and a nephew, Charlie Corsby of Pope.

              • Adelaide Ramsey Riley Fisher — 81, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at her home in Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Oxford. Burial will take place following the service at the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Lexington at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

              Born in Lexington, she grew up there and attended MSCW and Ole Miss, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She married in 1954, and they lived in Lexington with their three sons. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She served as administrative assistant to the Holmes County superintendent of education for 38 years, retiring in 1995.

              In 1995, she married her second husband and moved to Greenwood, where she became a member of North Greenwood Baptist Church, The Explorer Bible Study, The Greenwood Garden Club and The Friends of Cottonlandia Museum. She served as a teacher in Sunday school there. In 2008, she moved to Oxford and made her home there, becoming a member of First Baptist Church, where she continued her lifelong joy in serving as a Sunday school teacher. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Riley, and her second husband, Bobby Fisher.

              Survivors include her sons, Mark Riley of Wartrace, Tenn., Chris Riley of Oxford and Matt Riley of Lexington; her stepson, Bob Fisher of West Helena, Ark.; her stepdaughter, Leigh Fisher of West Helena; five grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren.

                • Jerry Herbert — 61, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mt. Moriah Building in Coffeeville. Burial will follow in the Coffeeville City Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley.
                • Jeffery Lee Montgomery — 60, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at his home near Oxford. There are no plans for a service. Coleman Funeral Home in Oxford was in charge of local arrangements.

                    • Tyler Allen Monteith, 21, died Wednesday in Teton County, Wyoming. Arrangements are incomplete with Waller Funeral Home in Oxford.
