Panty-raider on prowl

The Oxford Police Department is investigating the theft of women’s lingerie from local female college students.
OPD has recently received four reports of someone entering a residence of four different female college students and taking several items of lingerie.
Anyone with information or needing to report similar incidents contact OPD Investigation Division at 232-2400. (June 25, 2010, Page 2A)

    Princeton grad rides his bike home from school

    Peter Dunbar wanted to ride home from school on his bicycle, and he wanted his four friends to join him.

      Jobless rate rises again

      After three months of steadily declining unemployment, the community’s jobless rate reversed course and started climbing again.             Lighting installed, power to be connected soon at boat landing

                Local Red Cross gets more responsibility

                Red Cross is cutting its 13 chapters in Mississippi down to five due to financial strain over the past two years but the change benefits Oxford by turning the local service station into one of the headquarters for the newly formed Northwest Mississippi Red Cross Chapter. Bebo Howell, the executive director of the local Red Cross office, said many details of the restructuring haven’t been determined. (June 24, 2010, Page 1a)

                    County to respond to court order issued last week

                    The Lafayette County Board of Supervisors voted to allow County Attorney David O’Donnell to draft a response to a court order issued against them last week that instructed them to follow through with its promise to be the funding conduit for the Third Circuit Court and it’s Drug Court until Union County can take over. (June 24, 2010, Page 2A)
