        Rain delays July 4 events

        UPDATE — An afternoon thunderstorm on Independence Day has pushed back events in the Grove by about an hour. Organizer Kate Rosson said bands would begin playing at about 5 or 5:30 p.m. Children’s events including a petting zoo were being set up at about 4:30, and fireworks over Oxford-University Stadium are still slated for nightfall.

                  Saturday is last day to register for primary

                  The last day to register to vote in the upcoming primary election on Aug. 2 is this Saturday. The Lafayette County Circuit Clerk’s Office will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday to accommodate last-minute voter registrations. (July 1, 2011, Page 3A)
