Highway name change would honor fallen biker

The Lafayette County Board of Supervisors and local House Rep. Tommy Reynolds are asking the State Legislature to allow a 4.5 mile portion of Old Sardis Road to be renamed the Kevser Ermin Memorial Highway, named after Ermin who was killed last month while riding her bike along that road. (November 8, 2011, Page 1)

      County restores YAC funding

      The Lafayette County Board of Supervisors approved 3 to 2 giving $15,000 to the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council during their regular meeting Monday. Last month, YAC was denied the funding, however Supervisor Robert Blackmon changed his vote Monday, granting YAC the funds. (November 8, 2011, Page 1)

          Coaching merry-go-round has to stop at UM

                  Sign ordinance moves forward

                  Oxford Board of Aldermen denied a motion to send back the non conforming sign ordinance to the Planning Commission on Tuesday. Lamar Advertising requested to consider changes at the Planning Commission on Friday as the deadline looms for signs to come into compliance by Nov. 15. (November 7, 2011, Page 2A)
