      List of investment firms narrows

      The Oxford Reserve and Trust Fund Committee has narrowed down its search for an investment firm to handle Oxford’s recently acquired $30 million to a list of four companies that will be invited to Oxford on Feb. 17 to present their proposals in person and answer questions from committee members. (January 25, 2012, Page 2)

        Bike lane work to begin this spring

        Members of the Oxford Pathways Commission and the city of Oxford Planning Department are making it a priority to announce to residents living along the roads slated to get new bike paths this year when and where the construction will begin in their neighborhood. Construction on the 12 miles of new bike lanes could start in March. (January 24, 2012, Page 1)

            Avent Park may get lake

            If a grant application is approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Oxford officials plan to build a small lake inside of Avent Park to help with flooding and drainage problems for those living in the area. (January 20, 2012, Page 1A)

              Serving tennis plan again

              After plans to spend $3 million to expand the John Leslie Tennis Facility from eight to 20 courts fizzled last year when the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors refused to join with the city of Oxford and University of Mississippi to fund it, a scaled-down version seems to have a better chance of moving forward. (January 20, 2012, Page 1A)

                Movie set to film in Oxford

                The Oxford Convention and Visitor’s Bureau gave a $5,000 film grant Wednesday night at the request of screen writer Glenn German for an upcoming film, “Admissions,” that will be partly filmed at the University of Mississippi and Oxford, with actor Andy Garcia expected in the lead male role. (January 19, 2012, Page 1)

                  Transit budget, bus services expand

                  The Oxford Board of Alderman voted to increase its share of the Oxford-University Transit budget by $40,000 for the 2012-13 fiscal year. The increase is partly due to two new routes and the building of a new bus depot on McElroy Drive.                     Two toss hat into alderman Ward 6 election
