City approves church building demolition

The Oxford Board of Aldermen gave representatives of First Baptist Church permission to tear down a dilapidated home on operty the church purchased in 2010. Their actions overturn an earlier decision by the Oxford Historic Preservation Commission to require the church to preserve the structure. (February 8, 2012, Page 1)

Signs for a new food franchise on the Square were approved Monday by the Courthouse Square Historic Preservation Commission 4 to 1. The commission grudgingly approved the signs for Pita Pit, despite their obvious dislike of the colors and modern look. (February 7, 2012, Page 3)
