Honor for ‘Preacher’ Lovelady very fitting

Family members are putting together a very fitting tribute to Morris “Preacher” Lovelady, who’s contributed so much to the Lafayette-Oxford-University community through his work on campus, with the summer baseball programs and with Boy Scouts. The “Preacher” Lovelady Silver Beaver Golf Scramble, set for July 17 at the University Golf Course, will honor Lovelady and benefit one of his favorite causes. (June 18, 2010, Page 4A)

It’s hope for the future that makes Sunderland’s story one to read, Addington writes. (June 17, 2010, Page 4)

Alcohol sales an issue in the cyberworld, too

Staff writer Alyssa Schnugg admits it – she’s an online game junkie. What’s she’s recently discovered, too, is that there is an uncanny similarity between the online world she plays in and the real one she lives in since there’s an issue about alcohol sales in both. After taking a look at the issue, she wonders if there might be more democracy in her gaming world. (June 10, 2010, Page 4)

Is it hotter now, or do we just need it cooler?

Is it global warming or just getting accustomed to 72-75 degree machine-cooled air over the years that makes it so difficult to go outside or to places with the AC set on 78 or 80? Editor Don Whitten recalls days when air conditioners were not part of life and wonders if we’ve just hurt ourselves by getting too comfortable. (June 9, 2010, Page 4)
