Redistricting plans available for review

Two proposed plans for redistricting the voter districts in Lafayette County are available for review by the public at the Chancery Building. Both plans satisfy the “one man, one vote” rule. (September 7, 2011, Page 1)

    Another supervisor voted out

    Lafayette County Supervisor Ray Sockwell lost to Mike Roberts in Tuesday night’s runoff election. He’s the third incumbent supervisor to be voted out of office this election cycle. Sylvia Baker won her bid against Lisa Hickman Spragins to become Lafayette County’s Tax Assessor/Collector.       Races to be decided Tuesday

      Voters will decide Tuesday who will be Lafayette County’s new tax assessor/collector during the runoff election. There are a total of four local races on the ballot. Voters will also finish choosing the Democratic nominee for governor and the Republican nominee for state treasurer. (August 22, 2011, Page 1A)

        Kennedy returns as county coroner

        Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy will serve for another four years after winning in Tuesday’s primary election. (August 3, 2011, Page 2)

          Raney takes Democratic ticket

          Hollaman ‘Holly” Raney won the Democratic ticket in Tuesday’s primary in the House of Representative District 12 race. He will face Brad Mayo in the general election in November. In the District 10 race, Democrat Greg Hodges will go against Republican Nolan Mettetal. In the District 13 race, Democrats Don Randolph and Billy Gray will face each other at the runoff election. (August 3, 2011, Page 2)

            Mosley wins Dem primary for circuit clerk

            Deputy Circuit Clerk Baretta Mosley won last night’s Democratic primary in the race for circuit court clerk. She will go up against Gary “Chick” Drewrey, who won against E.J. Earmel Cotten, with 69.98 percent of the Republican vote. (August 3, 2011, Page 1)

                2 incumbent supervisors defeated

                Two Lafayette County supervisors will lose their seats on the board at the end of this year after losing in Tuesday’s primary election, while a third incumbent will fight to retain his position during the Aug. 23rd runoff election. Supervisor Lloyd Oliphant was ousted by Chad D. McLarty while Supervisor Johnny Morgan lost to Jeff Busby. (August 3, 2011, Page 1)
