Five local students qualify as National Merit semifinalists

One student from Lafayette High School and four from Oxford High School have qualified as semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship. The finalists for the competition will be announced in the spring. (September 14, 2014, Page 6C)

    Schools compete before the Crosstown Classic

    Lafayette and Oxford High School have both accepted the challenge to participate in the Great American Rivalry Series “It Can Wait—Don’t Text and Drive” campaign. The schools will post on Twitter and one school will win the #X trophy tonight. (September 12, 2014, Page 2A)

      OHS among top schools

        UM enrollment 23,000

          Candidates qualify for school boards

          Lafayette County and Oxford School District’s each have three qualifying candidates running for the open school board member positions. The elections for the members will be held with other general elections on Nov. 4. (September 10, 2014, Page 1)

            LHS driving funds for band

            The Lafayette County School Board approved a fundraiser for the LHS band with Belk Ford’s Drive 4UR School program at last night’s board meeting. The board also discussed the need for another building to compensate for student growth. (September 9, 2014, Page 1)

              Title 1 meetings set Monday at Lafayette

              Parents are encouraged to attend the fall Title 1 meeting on Monday at Lafayette. The lower and upper elementary and the middle school are considered Title 1 schools. (September 7, 2014)

                  LES raises funds for LeBonhuer
