Ethics Commission OKs Kendricks’ campaign

Oxford School Board elections are coming up quick and certain questions arose concerning the ethics of runner Marni Kendricks possibly being elected. Kendricks sought the opinion of the Mississippi Ethics Commission and her situation was considered favorable. (October 10, 2014, Page 2A)

    OMS students creating disturbances

    The Oxford-Lafayette Public Library has recently seen its fair share of middle schoolers who walk down to the facility after school and cause disturbances with readers and staff. A police report was filed yesterday morning as the librarian believes some students started a fire on the steps of the library. (October 10, 2014, Page 1)

      OHS to stage classic ‘Love Story’

      The Oxford High School drama department will perform the 1970 classic “Love Story” beginning Thursday at Kayla Mize Auditorium. The story was originally written by Erich Segal. (October 8, 2014, Page 1A)

        OE hosts student, community book fair

        Oxford Elementary School hosted a student and community book fair last night in its library. Students and their parents may still take part in the fair as it is going on until Friday. (September 30, 2014, Page 2)

          OES kicks off Disney Fundraiser

          Oxford Elementary School was visited by a few magical guest Friday as they kicked off their Disney Fundraiser event. Students are selling $5 raffle tickets for a chance to win a $5,000 trip to Disney World. (September 29, 2014, Page 1)

            OSD puts new focus on reading

            The Oxford School Board was made aware of 116 third-graders who either scored deficit on reading or are on the borderline and at risk for not moving onto the fourth grade. Parents of these children will be sent home a letter on Thursday detailing the reading intervention that their child needs. (September 23, 2014, Page 1)

              LHS, OHS excel in state, high school scores

                OSD addresses issues with buses

                    Five local students qualify as National Merit semifinalists

                    One student from Lafayette High School and four from Oxford High School have qualified as semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship. The finalists for the competition will be announced in the spring. (September 14, 2014, Page 6C)
