Parents play role in student testing
From Tuesday through Thursday, students in the third through eighth grades at Oxford and Lafayette public schools will be taking the Mississippi Curriculum Test Second Edition or MCT2. AnComm expands services
The AnComm Talk-About-It program, aweb-and text-based program to allow students to anonymously talk about issues, has continued to grow in popularity among middle and high schools throughout the country. Now, thanks to a partnership with the Mississippi Department of Health, the program is available to anyone in the state, although the hope is that it gives teens an opportunity to reach out to a trained counselor. Assistant principal to take reins at OHS

Softball savings
Despite initial estimates that a new softball field at Oxford High School would cost $1.2 million, bids on the project have come in at roughly half the cost. The Oxford School Board on Thursday approved the final two phases of the project for a total cost of $643,960. (April 30, 2010, Page 1A)

Marquette Vaughn took the top honor as the Oxford School District Parent of the Year. Vaughn moved to Oxford in 2008 with her family after her husband took a job as an assistant football coach for the Ole Miss Rebels football team.
