      Five local students qualify as National Merit semifinalists

      One student from Lafayette High School and four from Oxford High School have qualified as semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship. The finalists for the competition will be announced in the spring. (September 14, 2014, Page 6C)

        Schools compete before the Crosstown Classic

        Lafayette and Oxford High School have both accepted the challenge to participate in the Great American Rivalry Series “It Can Wait—Don’t Text and Drive” campaign. The schools will post on Twitter and one school will win the #X trophy tonight. (September 12, 2014, Page 2A)

          OHS among top schools

          Oxford High School made the Newsweek list of America’s Top Schools. The school is the only high school in the state to make the list. (September 11, 2014, Page 1)

                MDE releases test scores

                The Mississippi Department of Education released 2013-14 state test scores. Most schools noticed a drop in scores due to an implemented common core curriculum and a standard state test. (August 26, 2014, Page 1)

                  OSD releases AP, ACT scores

                  The Oxford School Board announced the results of student scoring on Advanced Placement and ACT tests. AP scores were slightly down from last year. (August 26, 2014, Page 1)
