Lafayette schools brace for cuts
Lafayette County School Superintendent Mike Foster warned members of the school district that some difficult budget decisions will be made in the coming weeks. With Gov. Haley Barbour calling for more cuts to school budgets, the district is having to address rumors about budget issues, Foster said at Monday’s school board meeting. LMS receives new technology
Some 240 students at Lafayette Middle School are getting to use special clickers to answer questions in class, while teachers are using wireless notepads to see whether students are getting the answers right. The Kiwanis Club of Oxford donated three bikes to Lafayette Upper Elementary School for the most improved readers in third, fourth and fifth grades. Seven local teachers earn certification
Ranking 13 in the country, Mississippi added numerous new National Board Certified teachers to its ranks this winter. Among the 222 new certified teachers in the state are several teachers from Oxford School District and one from Lafayette School District. (January 5, 2010)

New grades at Lafayette
Some Lafayette County School District students who received a B last semester may find they got an A following the county School Board’s approval Monday to adopt a modified 10-point grading scale.
