Another storm blows through

While no tornadoes were reported, straight-line winds that blew through Lafayette County Wednesday night toppled dozens of trees cause some minor to moderate damage on several homes throughout the Oxford area and widespread power outages. (May 26, 2011, Page 1)

Tennis effort may move forward

The University of Mississippi has committed $800,000 towards the expansion of the Leslie Tennis Facility. The city has also agreed to $1.5 million. The money is based on whether the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors will also agree to pay $1.5 million for the project. (May 25, 2011, Page 1)

OSD building projects begin

Work was approved to begin at Oxford High School, Oxford Middle School and Della Davidson Elementary on Monday with contracts going out to several local construction companies. OHS will begin site work. OMS will begin renovations and demolition of the current gym and DDE will begin class expansion. (May 24, 2011, Page 1)

The man who got the ball rolling that would eventually knock down several local attorneys testified for more than four hours Monday at the hearing where former attorney Zach Scruggs’ hopes to clear his name

Corrothers gets death

A 12-person jury decided Friday Caleb Corrothers should “suffer death” for shooting and killing father and son, Frank and Taylor Clark, in July 2009. The jury had the choice of sentencing Corrothers to the death penalty of life in prison without parole. (May 23, 2011, Page 1)
