Criminal and civil cases through the Third District Circuit Court in Lafayette County are now available online through Delta Computer Systems.     Multi-purpose facility proposed again

    A multi-purpose building for the Lafayette County community is back on the table on Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors agenda.

    Clarification: The story suggested the board may have looked at land but this is not the case for the current supervisor board. Any move towards the multi-purpose building was done in 2008 and previous boards. The meeting tonight to hear a presentation is the first step towards such a building. (February 20, 2012, Page 1A)

      Oxford plans celebration for 175th anniversary

      Oxford turns 175 years old this year and will be celebrating with a three-month-long birthday party that will begin with the Double Decker Arts Festival and end after the Fourth of July. (February 17, 2012, Page 1A)

        Double Decker lineup revealed


        Award winning Gospel and rhythm and blues artist Mavis Staples will be the Saturday night headliner at this year’s Double Decker Arts Festival. Friday night’s ticketed event will feature Charlie Mars, Deer Tick and Iron and Wine. (February 17, 2012, Page 1A, 12A)

            Is annex request hospital related?

            Local land owners are asking a Chancery Court judge to allow their 160 acres of property to be annex into the city of Oxford have some wondering if this site is on a short list of possibilities for the location of a new proposed $250 million regional medical facility from Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. A hearing on the annexation is set for April 3. (February 16, 2012, Page 1)

                Two in Ward 6 runoff


                Katie Morrison and Jason Bailey will face off once again on Feb. 28 in the race for Ward 6 alderman. Morrison and Bailey both earned about 49 percent of the votes however, before a winner could have been declared, one of them had to win by more than 50 percent. A third candidate, Liz Barrett had 11 votes (February 15, 2012, Page 1)
