City to recall 9/11 with volunteer day

    Veterans’ supporters give generously

    The campaign, “Stand Behind Those That Stood in Front of Us,” kicked off in March with the group aiming to raise the money by March 2012. Through the generosity of local people and organizations, the group has raised more than $33,000 with seven months to go in the year-long campaign. (August 29, 2011, Page 1A)

        More cops hired for Square

        After seeing footage of a fight on the Square last Monday, the Oxford Board of Aldermen approved a request from Oxford Police Department Chief Mike Martin to hire four new police officers to focus on the Downtown Business District.

            Missing man found

            The Panola County Sheriff’s Department announced that Ricky Russell of Murphy Ridge Road has been found. Russell, who suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease, was found early Friday morning and is “OK.” (August 26, 2011, Page 2A)
