Hoover awaits Rebel baseball; apathy awaits its fan base

But then, Joe York’s documentaries typically fit the bill to give me a new perspective on a topic. His latest, “Smokes and Ears” played at the Tupelo Film Festival last weekend and took third place in the Best Documentary category. (May 20, 2010)
Paul Geremia gives a master class in the blues at Rooster’s
OXFORD TOWN – Bring your listening ears with you to Rooster’s Blues House tonight (Thursday, May 20) and attend a “master class” in blues history as Paul Geremia takes the stage and introduces Oxford to his unique style of six and 12 string blues. Kentucky Knife Fight rumbles into Parrish’s
OXFORD TOWN – Lead singer Jason Holler, Drummer James Baker and bassist Jason Koenig and the rest of their band from St. Louis, Kentucky Knife Fight, are set for a concert at Parrish’s this Friday night at 10. Their music contains a wide range of influences, including rock, blues, grunge, among other genres. Tupelo Film Festival kicks off tonight
The seventh annual Tupelo Film Festival kicks off tonight with a special concert by Jimbo Mathus and the Tri-State Coalition and a free outside screeing of “God’s Architects,” a feature documentary by Zach Godshall about divinely inspired architects including footage from Vicksburg. The concert and film also includes a fish fry on the Lee County courthouse lawn. (May 13, 2010, Page 11)
Hill Country Harmonica set for Foxfire Ranch
OXFORD TOWN – Hill Country Harmonica is taking over Foxfire Ranch in Waterford just outside of Oxford next weekend, playing host to a two day intensive retreat for blues harmonica enthisiasts of all levels. The retreat is set for Saturday, May 22, and Sunday, May 23.
