BamaJam re-loads, returns to Enterprise, Ala.

OXFORD TOWN – Hard to mess up this post and photograph, huh? The 2012 BamaJam is set to re-load in Enterprise, Ala. (just outside of Dothan and south of Montgomery, Ala.) beginning June 14 and will feature several hard-hitting headliners as well as 46 other country and rock acts — all set to jam at the popular three-day event.     Theatre Oxford’s 10 Minute Plays announce 2012 winners

    OXFORD TOWN – The staged readings of the top five finalists from Theatre Oxford’s 2012 National 10 Minute Play Contest were held Tuesday, May 8, at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center to determine the grand prize winner of the LW Thomas Award. The top five finalists were performed by five local actors; Jennifer Mathus (pictured here) Meaghin Burke, Greg Earnest, Michael Ewing and Dane Moreton.       Lies and Other Truths: Jim Dees remembers Levon

      OXFORD TOWN – Oxford Town columnist Jim Dees pays a moving tribute to the late Levon Helm – from his days with the Hawks to his migration to The Band to his casual solo career in a live setting in his “studio/barn” to his untimely death (losing a battle to cancer last month). Mavis Staples honored him at Oxford’s Double Decker Festival two weekends ago, and Dees takes the reins this week, remembering the great musician. Turn to Page 6 in Oxford Town No. 978 and check out Dees’ thoughts on a rock ‘n’ roll legend who left us much too quickly. (May 10, 2012, Page 6)

        Megan Reilly set for a graduation night show at Two Stick

        OXFORD TOWN – Memphis native Megan Reilly heads to Two Stick Sushi Bar for a show on graduation night (Saturday, May 12) with her long-time band in tow featuring Ian Hunter’s lead guitarist James Mastro. Reilly is touring in support of her new album “The Well.” Page 12 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town (No. 978) has more information on the passionate musician and her awesome band who are set for a show on the Oxford Square this Saturday. (May 10, 2012, Page 12)

          YAC’s Taylorpalooza re-loads this Saturday

          OXFORD TOWN – YAC’s annual family picnic and membership drive, Taylorpalooza, cranks up this Saturday in the Plein Air Neighborhood in Taylor. Musical entertainment will include Love Cannon and The Okratones. The fun begins at 5 p.m. and will last until 8.             OXFORD TOWN – Without a doubt, it’ll be a grand and raucous reunion tonight (May 3) at Proud Larry’s as Megan Tubb (pictured here) & Shady People return to town after a five month absence.
