‘Modern Day Huck Finn’ visits the Powerhouse this Friday (July 13)
OXFORD TOWN – Citizen journalist and up-and-coming author Neal Moore (pictured here) will have his first novel published tomorrow (Friday, July 13) titled “Down the Mississippi: A Modern Day Huck on America’s River Road.” The adventure author is set for a book launch party at the Powerhouse tomorrow from 5-7 p.m. Page 7 in Oxford Town No. 987 has complete details about the free event and Moore’s return to Oxford. OXFORD TOWN – As you read this, that is if you are reading it on Thursday, June 28, the Guinness World Record is not yet broken as the Flaming Lips’ attempt continues until this evening. But, by Friday, the Lips will have the record for the most live concerts in a 24 hour period and the Lyric Theater was definitely rockin’ the Lips on Wednesday night. Grace Potter (pictured here) and The Nocturnals opened the show for the Flaming Lips with an awesome 90 minute set. Shakespeare Festival continues with ‘The Sound Of Music’
OXFORD TOWN – Rodgers and Hammerstein’s enduring musical, “The Sound of Music,” opens June 28 as part of the 2012 Oxford Shakespeare Festival. Dent May’s New Album ‘Do Things’ Gets Fun(ky)
OXFORD TOWN – The ukelele-clutching Oxonian who crooned about post-college living and all its velvety splendor has returned. Actually he never went anywhere but it’s been three years since Dent May’s first album, “The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukelele,” caught the attention of college radio stations and major music publications nationwide.
