A fundraiser for the 17 horses rescued in Yalobusha County during February will be held at Bozarts Gallery in Water Valley on Saturday. Water Valley native Kimberly Boyd Vickrey, a professor of design and photography at Arkansas State University and a fine art equine photographer, photographed the horses about three weeks after the rescue. Framed artwork, small matted prints and books of the Yalobusha rescues will be exhibited and on sale at the gallery. Vickrey will give a talk about the horses and her work at 6 p.m., followed by a reception at 7. An opening reception for recent work by Oxonian Bradley Gordon will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. on Friday at Yalo Studio in Water Valley. Gordon’s paintings, which will be on display through June, show the wildlife of the South, but with an unusual technique and vivid colors unlike the common paintings of southern animals.
