The Oxford Art Crawl returns in a big way

OXFORD TOWN – Back by popular demand, the Oxford Art Crawl returns as a regular summer event and everyone’s invited. Featured stops on Tuesday, June 28, will include Gallery 130, the Powerhouse, the University Museum and several other venues.     Get Revived! The Oxford Rhythm Revival returns this weekend

    OXFORD TOWN – Gear up for one of the coolest “revivals” in the region as the 2011 version of the Oxford Rhythm Revival cranks up around the Oxford Square this Saturday (June 18). Mississippi native Lynn Drury, Memphis legend rocker Keith Sykes, Shannon McNally, fiddle prodigy Ruby Jane (pictured), Gina Sexton, Marlena Jarjoura and Taylor Hildebrand are just of few of the names that will keep Oxford jumping this Saturday night. The fun begins on Saturday morning on the Courthouse lawn and continues until the last note is played at Proud Larry’s, Rooster’s Blues House and Soulshine Pizza at midnight.       James McMurtry, Jonny Burke tag team proud

      OXFORD TOWN – Americana musician James McMurtry (pictured) is set to take the proud Larry’s stage tonight (June 2) at 9. Jonny Burke is scheduled to open the show.           Vacant Fever, Elemovements to rock The Blind Pig this Saturday

            To Light A Fire to light up The Blind Pig

            OXFORD TOWN – The indie/alternative band, To Light A Fire, is headed to Oxford and The Blind Pig for its debut show. Members of the band include Tyler Cody (guitar), Shane Cardinal (bass), Alison Smolin (pictured-drums), Ben Smolin (keyboards/vocals) and Andrew Flickinger (guitar). Catch the rising Birmingham band tomorrow night (Friday, May 20) for an improvised show at The Blind Pig and be sure to check out a feature on the band on Page 9 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town. (May 19, 2011, Page 9)
