Oxford Music Festival reloads
OXFORD TOWN – Oxford Music Festival organizers Daniel Morrow, Tim Burkhead (pictured here), Nathan Robbins and Caroline Hourin recently released the lineup for the 2012 version of one of Oxford’s favorite hometown festivals, Oxford Music Fest. Set to reload Feb. 9 at the Lyric Theater, Proud Larry’s and the Malco Studio Cinema, OMF is teaming up with the Oxford Film Festival to bring us another amazing weekend of music, movies and mayhem featuring tons of local talent. ‘Downton Abbey’ set for Powerhouse next Tuesday
OXFORD TOWN – For fans of the breakout Masterpiece hit “Downton Abbey,” season two may come a bit early as The Friends of Mississippi Public Broadcasting will hold a sneak preview of the popular drama Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center in Oxford. Shannon comes ‘Home’ this Friday
OXFORD TOWN – Any true North Mississippian can identify the silhouette of Shannon McNally from, at least, a mile away. McNally and her band, Hot Sauce, are set for a show at Proud Larry’s on Friday, Dec. 30, as they help ring in 2012 with their fiery Americana and folk originals. Also at Larry’s, on Saturday, the popular venue plays host to Dent May, Flight, ILLS and Star Child for a Cats Purring New Year’s Eve jam. OXFORD TOWN – As most community activities slow to a crawl (or stop completely) at this time of the year in Lafayette County — the rock solid, ever-consistent Rooster’s Blues House and owner Scott Michael keep the intensity hot and its doors open even without the majority of Ole Miss students in town to pack the popular venue. Hancock Co. (pictured here) is scheduled to return to the Rooster’s stage this Saturday night (Dec. 17) after Cadillac Funk rocks the rafters on Friday — shows organized with Oxonians, not students, in mind.
