Oxford receives $63K in arts grants

To say there’s an arts event happening almost every day in Oxford is not an exaggeration.

The Yoknapatawpha Arts Council helps organize 320 days of arts programming every year.

“That means almost every day, we have something going on somewhere in the community, if not multiple things a day,” said Wayne Andrews, director of the Arts Council.

That’s why the organization’s leaders were happy to learn they’ve been awarded a $27,000 operating grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission for the 2015 fiscal year. The YAC grant was one of nine awarded in Lafayette County totaling $63,000.
