Yocona Folk Festival Kicks off this Friday at the Powerhouse
OXFORD TOWN – The Yocona Folk Festival will kick off its 2011 season this Friday (Aug. 5) with its International Marketplace Day held at the Powerhouse. The market is set to take place from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and will feature tons of artists and craftsmen selling their wares. The day will also feature American and international music and dance, all of which is free and open to the public. ‘The Help’ premiers; opens Aug. 10
OXFORD TOWN – The new film “The Help” opens Aug. 10 and many critics around the country have already seen it and are screaming its accolades. The Mississippi premiere took place in Jackson and the Oxford Film Freak was there along with James Meredith and Gov. Haley Barbour. Last ‘Potter’ film a big draw
Nearly 1,100 attended the midnight showing of the last movie in the multi-billion dollar Harry Potter series at the Oxford Malco Studio Theaters in Oxford. Nationwide, tickets brought in $32 million before the movie even opened in pre-ordered ticket sales. (July 15, 2011, Page 1A)
