Last ‘Potter’ film a big draw

Nearly 1,100 attended the midnight showing of the last movie in the multi-billion dollar Harry Potter series at the Oxford Malco Studio Theaters in Oxford. Nationwide, tickets brought in $32 million before the movie even opened in pre-ordered ticket sales. (July 15, 2011, Page 1A)

    38th Annual Faulkner Conference begins Sunday, July 17

    OXFORD TOWN – The complexities of space and place, borders impenetrable or porous, will be explored at the 38th annual Faulkner & Yoknapatawpha Conference, scheduled July 17-21 at the University of Mississippi.       New Indie film to shoot next month in Oxford

      OXFORD TOWN – A new film by local Jim Shollenberger will begin shooting in Oxford and the surrounding area this month. The film,“Bent Prism,” is a three-story anthology dealing with the pain of relationships. Turn to Page 11 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town and check out Oxford Film Freak Melanie Addington’s early coverage of the L-O-U community’s next film endeavor. Actress Haley Strode (pictured) will be in town filming one of the stories in the new film, “The Hardest Thing.” (June 16, 2011, Page 11)
