And the streak continues. In short, Sundays have been unkind to the Ole Miss Rebels baseball squad. For the fourth Sunday in a row, the No. 17 Rebels have been unable to not only piece together timely hits but also find pitching that gives them a chance to take the game.
One game after the Rebels’ offense exploded for 15 runs, the No. 8 Gators returned the favor, routing the Rebels 13-1 to avoid a sweep at Oxford-University Stadium. (March 29, 2010, Page 1B)
There’s a reason one particular quote from the most recent “30 for 30″ documentary by ESPN stood out to Mississippi sophomore guard Terrico White.
Toward the end of the “Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. The New York Knicks” documentary, Miller says, “All the great players have always played great in this building. Anytime I played in the (Madison Square) Garden, something special was going to happen.”
White heard that, and something clicked. (more…) (March 29, 2010)

Friday night’s game between the No. 8 Florida Gators and No. 17 Ole Miss Rebels lived up to the hype.

The Ole Miss Rebels are hoping to have better luck than in-state rival Mississippi State this weekend when they host the No. 8 Florida Gators for a three-game series beginning tonight at 6:30. Last weekend, the Gators swept MSU in Gainesville, Fla., outscoring the Bulldogs 16-7. Florida is currently riding a six-game winning streak after rallying to beat Florida Gulf Coast 13-8 on Wednesday. (March 26, 2010, Page 6A)
By David Goforth’s own admission, he has some work to do to become the closer he knows he can be. Entering this weekend’s series against No. 8 Florida, Goforth is the not-so-proud owner of an 8.49 ERA. That’s not to say Goforth hasn’t had some solid outings, like against Saint Louis on Wednesday where after struggling early in the eighth inning he came back out and struck out the side in the ninth.
But at Kentucky last weekend, the sophomore right-hander was shelled for 10 earned runs in just 1.1 innings. (March 26, 2010, Page 6A)
Brittany Barnhill has been a jack of all trades for the Ole Miss softball team this season. Since transferring from the University of Texas prior to the 2010 season, Barnhill has been a big reason the Rebels have an 18-13 overall record. (March 25, 2010, Page 7)
Ole Miss rising sophomore Pat Patterson has been suspended for the spring, head coach Houston Nutt announced during his pre-spring drills press conference at the Indoor Practice Facility on Wednesday. (March 25, 2010, Page 6)
Even without sluggers Matt Smith and Matt Snyder, the No. 17 Ole Miss baseball team was able to score double-digit runs for the second-straight night on Wednesday, knocking off the Saint Louis Billikens 14-5 at Oxford-University Stadium. (March 25, 2010, Page 6)
