Offense fails Rebels in SEC opener
HOOVER, Ala. — A.J. Reed didn’t just do a little of everything for Kentucky on Tuesday.
The southpaw shut out Ole Miss for 5.1 innings in the opening game of the Southeastern Conference Tournament at Regions Park.
And then, as if that wasn’t enough, the freshman also went 4-for-4 at the plate with three singles and a solo home run in the fourth inning that proved to be the difference in the 2-0 Kentucky victory. (May 23, 2012, Page 5A)
Loss leaves Rebels still searching for offense

It’s been a long time coming for OM’s Orvis
It’s one thing to be a freshman and receive regular playing time, but it’s a completely different animal to receive sporadic pinch hit opportunities during your first season in the Southeastern Conference.
After coming to Ole Miss during the summer with a slugger’s reputation, freshman Sikes Orvis has been relegated to the latter role due in large part to some of the upperclassmen ahead of him on the depth chart, which is why what he accomplished Saturday is all the more special. Under a veil of mist and light rain on Sunday the Rebels accomplished what they hadn’t done in weeks, close out an Southeastern Conference series with a win.
