    Star & Micey return to Oxford with Proud Larry’s performance

    Star & Micey make their first return to an Oxford stage since playing at April’s Double Decker Arts and Music Festival with a performance at Proud Larry’s on Saturday night.       Yocona International Folk Festival returns to Powerhouse, Ford Center

      OXFORD TOWN – Visitors can immerse themselves in the sights, sounds and tastes from all over the world as a multitude of diverse cultures, languages, food, and musical performances collide at the sixth annual Yocona International Folk Festival. Page 7 in Oxford Town No. 991 has details about this year’s festival that officially begins with a kickoff event to be held in Oxford on Saturday, Aug. 11. The event — International Marketplace Day — is set for the Powerhouse Community Arts Center beginning at 10 a.m. featuring tons of music, food, drink, dance and handicrafts from Peru, Egypt and other places. (August 9, 2012, Page 7)

        Ali Holder, Daniel Thomas Phipps launch new music at Proud Larry’s August 9

        OXFORD TOWN – Based out of Austin, Texas, Ali Holder and Daniel Thomas Phipps will be coming through Oxford as a stop on their southeast tour. They’re set for Proud Larry’s next Thursday (Aug. 9) at 9:45 p.m. Both musicians are established in their own right, with their own bands, but they come together on this tour as a singer-songwriter collaborative duo and the results are guaranteed to please any folk/rock/blues/Americana fan.           Music in the Hall teams with Bottletree Bakery

          OXFORD TOWN – Hallelujah. Oxford’s favorite unique music experience, Music in the Hall, returns in a big way this week by hosting a Gospel Series show at Bottletree Bakery tonight (Thursday, July 26) at 7:30. Doors open at 7 for the show which will feature Anointed Faith Singers and Soul Consoulators.             Memphis’ River City Tanlines set for two Oxford shows

            OXFORD TOWN – Memphis’ own River City Tanlines, featuring frontwoman Alicja Trout, will host a record release party at Ajax Diner on Friday, July 27. The band is touring in support of its recently released album “Coast To Coast.” Page 7 in Oxford Town No. 989 has information about the band and its new album.
