  • George Edward McEwen Sr. — 42, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at his residence in Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tallahatchie Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building. Burial will follow in Hurricane Creek Primitive Church cemetery. Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
  • James Lester Watts — 73, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Philadelphia Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

    • Ruby Ethel Jones — 94, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at Graceland Care Center in Oxford. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

      • Willard Watkins — 85, died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Jackson. Services were held Aug. 2 at the John E. Stephens Chapel. Burial followed in the Morrow Cemetery in the Dixon community. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services of Philadelphia was in charge of arrangements.
