Friday’s obituaries

  • Omar D. Craig — 84, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at noon Monday at First Baptist Church in Oxford. A private family graveside service will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 until 6 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home and for an hour and a half prior to the service at the church.
  • Annie Lucinda Owens — 67, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at East St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 6:30 this evening at the Serenity-Martin Funeral Home in Oxford, and two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
  • Pearlie Mae Vaughn — 100, died Thursday at Graceland Care Center in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete with Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home of Oxford.
  • Marie Elaine Williams Woodall — 68, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2011 at I.O.O.F. cemetery with Bro. Ronny Miller officiating. There will be no formal visitation. West Oaks Funeral Home of Sulphur Springs is in charge of arrangements.

    • Ronald “Ronnie” Wayne Tatum — 54, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at his home in Taylor. Services will be held at noon Friday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Browning Cemetery. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
    • William Lowe “Bill” Waller — 85, died Wednesday, Nov. 31, 2011, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church Jackson. A private family graveside service will follow. Visitation will be held at the New Capitol from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday. Waller Funeral Home in Oxford is in charge of arrangements.

      More Faulkner movies in our future?

      Here’s some exciting news for fans of William Faulkner: David Milch’s Redboard Productions has entered into an agreement with the William Faulkner Literary Estate to produce films and television series based on Faulkner’s vast body of works. The deal, according to a news release issued this morning by the Bing Communications Group in Los Angeles, notes that the agreement covers all 19 novels and 125 short stories in the estate, “as well as other works, with the exception of those currently contracted with other parties.” (November 30, 2011)

Burial will follow in the West Tennessee V.A. Cemetery in Memphis. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
