Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Tallahatchie Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building in Oxford. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 this evening in the chapel at the Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home in Oxford.
  • Mannora Boone Mosby — 94, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at her daughter’s residence in 29 Palms, Calif. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Tallahatchie Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building in Oxford. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 this evening in the chapel at the Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home in Oxford.
  • John M. Newell — 79, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at his residence in Brookhaven. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Brookhaven. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 this evening at the Brookhaven Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Church in Abbeville. Burial followed in Owens Cemetery in Abbeville. Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home in Oxford was in charge of arrangements.
    • Wallace Keith Oakes — 39, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at The Med in Memphis. Services will be held at 2 this afternoon in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Cemetery in Abbeville. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
    • Francis M. “Frank” Rhodes — 77, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at the V.A. Medical Center. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Millington Chapel of the Munford Funeral Home in Millington. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
    • Samuel Wayne Waller Jr. — 67, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at his home in Oxford. Services were held this morning at Clear Creek Baptist Church. Burial followed in Clear Creek Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

                  • Shirley DePriest Baldwin, 66, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, with Bro. Randy Hope officiating. Burial will follow in Abbeville Cemetery. Visitation will be held for an hour and a half prior to the service at the funeral home. Retired from Furniture World in Oxford, she was the former town clerk of Abbeville and was a member of First Baptist Church of Abbeville. Also, she was a member of the Darrell DePriest Lafayette County DAV. Survivors include her mother, Arlie Mae Irwin DePriest of Abbeville; three daughters, Evelyn Windham and Teresa Baldwin, both of Southaven, and Karen Walters of Abbeville; one sister, Linda Kisner of Abbeville; two brothers, Danny DePriest and Keith DePriest, both of Abbeville; and four grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation Inc., 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.                     • April Nichelle Reithel — 29, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at her home in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete with Waller Funeral Home of Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home of Oxford. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. She was the head veterinary technician at Crossroads Animal Hospital, where she worked for nearly 10 years. Born in Portales, N.M., she was a graduate of Oxford High School.  She attended Ole Miss.  She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Robert J. Reithel in 1998 and a sister, Alexis Reithel, in 1985. She touched many lives in the community through her love for pets and people. She was a cherished daughter, sister, family member, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to have known her. Survivors include her parents, Vicki and Brian Reithel of Oxford; one sister, Ruby Reithel of Oxford; one brother, Dylan Reithel of Oxford; grandparents, Harriet and Don Bell of Clovis, N.M., and Louise E. Reithel of Albuquerque, N.M., and one great-grandmother, Marilyn Collins of Prescott, Ariz.
