Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Memorial Gardens in Yalobusha County. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

    • Ray Charles Cunningham — 56, died Sunday, July 1, 2012, at North Vista Hospital in Las Vegas. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel in Batesville, with Minister Dameon Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at the Springhill ASA Cemetery in Courtland. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the funeral home.
    • Arthur D. Ivy — 70, died Monday at his residence in Abbeville. Arrangements are incomplete with Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc.
    • Howard M. McLain Sr. — 91, died Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Waller Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford, with the Rev. Tim Fortner officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. The visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
    • Glen Talf Mynatt — 81, died Sunday, July 8, 2012, at his home in Potts Camp. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford, with Bro. Bobby McKay officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
    • Margaret Ann Alexander Self — 44, died on Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Wells Funeral Home of Batesville is in charge of arrangements.
    • Connie Wade West — 53, died Sunday, July 8, 2012, in Lafayette County. Services will be held Thursday in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, with Bro. David Freeman and Bro. Furman Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

        • Frances O. Woods — 93, died Friday, July 6, 2012, at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Burial will follow the service in the Masonic Haughton Cemetery in Amory at 3 p.m. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 this evening at the funeral home in Water Valley.

                Faulkner inspires art project, battles blight

                A Leadership Lafayette group is using original art pieces, inspired by writer William Faulkner, as part of an effort to make Faulkner Alley on the Square more attractive to visitors and to discourage vandals.
