  • Willie Lee “Will” Chatman — 55, died Friday, March 29, 2012, at his sister’s residence in Toccopola. Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday at East Providence M.B. Church. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 this evening at the church. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
  • Patricia Ann Archie-Herod — 60, died Friday, March 29, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at noon Thursday at the Second M.B. Church. Burial will follow in Brown’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 this evening at the church. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
  • Adeline Mason Houston — 79, died Tuesday at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley. Arrangements are incomplete with Waller Funeral Home of Oxford.
  • Martha Louise Savage — 65, died Monday, April 2, 2012, at her home near Oxford. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories located at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
  • Sadie Wilson — 76, died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at her residence in Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Jesus’ Crown of Life Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Oxford. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

    • Ruth Fowlkes Stigler — 86, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Clarksdale. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held for an hour and a half prior to the service at the church.Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    • Colvin Adrion Taylor — 82, died Monday, April 2, 2012, at his home in Water Valley. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Henry Chapel of the Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

      • H. E. Buddy Blake Sr. — 80, died Friday, March 30, 2012. Service were held this morning at West Side Baptist Church in El Dorado. Burial followed at Smyrna Cemetery. Arkansas Funeral Care in Jacksonville, Ark., was in charge of arrangements.
      • The Rev. Emmett Wayne Coleman — 88, died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Clinton Cemetery. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be conducted in the old sanctuary of First Baptist in Clinton. Visitation will be held in the church from 5 to 8 this evening. Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
      • William Terry McDonald — 63, died Friday, March 30, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis. Visitation was held Saturday in the Coleman Funeral Home Chapel.

      • Beverly Brawn Waller — 90, died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Azalea Gardens in Oxford. Services were held Sunday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home in Oxford. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery in Goldsboro, N.C. A visitation will be held prior to the graveside service from 1 to 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Goldsboro, N.C.

                  Community to celebrate Faulkner’s life, work

                  FULL STORY — Several events are being planned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of Nobel Prize-winning author William Faulkner. A free screening of “The Reivers,” lectures and other activities will take place on July 6.
