City rubbish pickup enters pilot program

In an effort to make Oxford look nicer, the city’s Solid Waste Department has developed a new pilot program for rubbish pickup in Oxford. (November 9, 2014, Page 1A)

Burial will follow at Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and visitation will follow from 5 to 7 p.m., all at Hodges Funeral Home in Oxford.

        With this being an election week, we take a look back at the results from previous elections. Back in 1936, Lafayette County was a Blue Community that enthusiastically supported Franklin Roosevelt and the New Deal. By 2000, the community had turned Red by giving its support to George Bush. (November 5, 2014, Page 1A)

            • James Nicholson — 65, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Water Valley. Seven Oaks Funeral Home of Water Valley is in charge of arrangements.
            • James Leslie Trumbo — 68, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home in Oxford. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
