‘Bread expert’ to open Wednesday

Panera Bread, the popular bakery and sandwich shop, will open its newest restaurant in Oxford on Wednesday. After opening a franchise in Olive Branch, the chain that has some 2,000 locations across the U.S. selected Oxford as the ideal place for its second restaurant in Mississippi. (September 14, 2014, Page 5A)

The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Oxford. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Waller Funeral Home in Oxford.

        • James Edward “Eddie” Jones — 50, died Monday in the Quitman County Hospital ER. Services will be held at 2 this afternoon in Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
        • Augusta Lewis Jordan — 87, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at noon Saturday at Mt. Gillion M.B. Church in Sardis. Burial will follow in Askew Grove Cemetery in Longtown. Visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at the Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Sardis and for two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
        • Stan Sandroni — 64, died Wednesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital–North Mississippi. Arrangements are incomplete with Waller Funeral Home in Oxford.

            • Anice Louise Kenton — 40, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Baptist East in Memphis. A visitation and memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Westview Baptist Church on Highway 6 West in Oxford. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of local arrangements.
            • Vera Marie Ramsey — 94, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at her residence in the Pine Flat community. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, with the Rev. Gene Bramlett and Kirk Bramlett officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
