    • Joyce Sue Gordon — 61, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Burial will follow in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
    • Joann Elizabeth “Pat” Searcy-Thomas — 83, died Thursday, May 30, 2013, at her residence in Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Burns U.M. Church, with burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Oxford. Hodges Freeman Funeral Home in Oxford is in charge of arrangements.

      • Dollye Strickland Smith — 93, died Friday, May 31, 2013. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Wright & Ferguson in Jackson. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday, all at the funeral home.

                  Lafayette fastest growing county in state

                  Based on recent population trends, Lafayette County is now the fastest growing county in the state, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. New numbers also reveal that the city of Oxford has reached a “milestone” in its population. (May 24, 2013, Page 1A)
