  • Hubert Russell “Sut” Fisher — 62, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at East St. Peter M.B. Church. Burial will follow be in East St. Peter Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
  • William S. “Boob” Groner — 89, died this morning at the Mississippi Veterans Home in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete with Waller Funeral Home.
  • Thomas Stanford Hayes Jr. — 84, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale, with burial to follow in the Oakridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 this evening, with a prayer service starting at 7 at the church in Clarksdale. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is in charge of arrangements.
  • Milton Lee Lewis — 57, died Friday at Select Specialty Hospital in Memphis. Arrangements are incomplete with Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home in Oxford.

              Fire at Lafayette High School

              After a fire that shut down Lafayette High School this morning, school will reopen Tuesday with only limited disruption to some classes. The school district is working with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department and an arrest is imminent, according to school officials.
