  • Willard Watkins — 85, died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Jackson. Services were held Aug. 2 at the John E. Stephens Chapel. Burial followed in the Morrow Cemetery in the Dixon community. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services of Philadelphia was in charge of arrangements.

    • Ronald Edwin Cooper — 64, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, in his home in Oxford. A private burial service will be conducted Wednesday at the Garden of Memories at Coleman Funeral Home in Oxford.
    • John Claude Willis — 67, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at his residence in Coffeeville. Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Garner-Harper Funeral Home Chapel in Grenada. Burial will follow at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Bruce. Visitation will be held for 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home.

      • Ben Dulin — 68, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at his home in Batesville. Services will be held at 2 this afternoon at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. Visitation will be held for 30 minutes prior to the service.
      • Eva Louise Learned — 47, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at The Med in Memphis. Services were held Sunday at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.
      • George E. McEwen Sr. — 42, died Saturday at his residence in Oxford. Arrangements are incomplete with Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home in Oxford.
      • Robert Taylor — 63, died on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glenville Cemetery in Panola County, with the Rev. Alan Cochet officiating. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

          • Iler Q.D. Hawkins — 98, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at her daughter’s residence in Oxford. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Water Valley Civic Auditorium in Water Valley. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove C.M.E. Church cemetery in Water Valley. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Oak Grove C.M.E. Church.
