      • Martha Branscome Fielder — 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at her residence in Water Valley. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home in Oxford. Burial will follow in Anchor Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 this evening at the funeral home.
      • Willie “JuneBug” Foster — 86, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home in Oxford. Burial will follow in Tula Cemetery. Visitation will be held for two and half hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
      • Cardelia Webb — 86, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Tallahatchie-Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building in Oxford. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery.         Yesterday’s Papers takes a look at 1942

        On this day 72 years ago, The Oxford EAGLE’s main story concerned the upcoming dedication of the new Catholic church — St. John’s. Also of note was the fact that cotton crops were being harvested and the local gins were getting busy. Scattered around the front page of the newspaper that week were several articles related to the war overseas. (September 3, 2014, Page 1)
