It took 13 games for the Lafayette High School baseball team to record its first home run of the 2012 season, proving the old adage of good things come to those who wait.
John Murphree broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning when he belted an offering from New Albany pitcher Ben Foster over the left field fence for a two-run home run to put the ‘Dores ahead 4-2 in what would turn out to be a 7-2 win over the Division 2-4A rival Bulldogs at W.V. NEW ALBANY — A chance for the Lafayette Lady Commodores basketball team to claim a second consecutive district tournament championship was sunk Thursday night by the North Pontotoc Lady Vikings.

Both Oxford High basketball squads secured a spot in the MHSAA Class 5A Playoffs next week and a spot in the Division 2-5A championship games with wins over Saltillo at the OHS gym Tuesday night.
